Weekend Outlook 6/21-6/23

This weekend, as of 8:10 on Friday, no matchup is necessarily out of reach. A big weekend for anyone could swing a close matchup to an absolute scoop. Team names are abbreviated with the owner’s initials due to table constraints.

Ronak’s Dumb Team Name vs. Brennan Huff Current Score: 5-6-1

After a pretty hot start from Ronak, my offense caught up in a lot of categories. Out of all these categories is the only category Ronak is out of it in is steals. Including Friday night, I have 6 SP going while Ronak only has 5. Ronak did, however, just add Tommy LaStella and Mike Trout via trade, so I’m definitely rooting against the Angels this weekend. Ronak does have an advantage with only 2 matchup acquisitions used compared to my 5, but with two backend starters going Sunday doesn’t have much room to stream. This matchup could come down to Sunday night, and blowout on either end would be frustrating for a matchup that was close most of the week.

It should be no surprise that Adam’s team is going absolutely bonkers on offense once again, and likely has 5 offensive categories in the bag. Pitching this week has been closer with Sam having solid ratios and more strikeouts, but all pitching categories are within reach for either team. Including tonights games, Adam has 5 SP compared to Sam 3. Adam also seems absolutely unafraid of Sam with 0 matchup acquisitions compared to Sam’s 5. Adam will continue to pull away in hitting, and should flip a few pitching categories too. I expect at least 8/9 wins for Adam and for him to extend his lead.

Vlad the Impaler vs. Team Chippy Current Score: 5-6-1

In probably the biggest surprise of this week so far, Taylor’s squad has held a lead over Sean after 4 days. After an out of this world hitting performance last week for Sean, his team has come back to earth with just a paltry .273 OBP. It wouldn’t surprise me if his hitting turned it around, and Sean would take 4 or 5 hitting categories, but pitching is much more of a tossup. Sean has 4 SP remaining compared to Taylor’s 6. Sean and Taylor both only have 2 acquisitions left for the week. The strikeouts may flip towards Taylor due to volume, but the ratios are an absolute tossup. Sean probably comes out with at least 5 wins, but Taylor could have a big upset with a strong hitting and pitching weekend.

The last interesting matchup of the week is a close one so far with the score varying wildly throughout writing. Evan injected some fire into this matchup by calling Jacob’s team “buncheeks.” So far, Evan holds a close lead, but is solidly behind in 4 pitching categories. His leads on saves will likely hold (I’m sorry) but hitting is a complete tossup. Evan does have 3 pitchers going as I write this, and 3 more throughout the weekend while Jacob has a disappointing Chris Sale going now, and 4 more throughout the week. Both have 5 matchup acquisitions left, so both have flexibility. Hitting will make this matchup, but if Jacob should take at least 4 categories because of a strong pitching start.

Team Hunter vs. The Bounceback Braves Current Score: 6-6

In the battle of two cellar dwellers, this matchup is tied. Jake has pitching, Hunter has hitting. Both these are pretty bad and this matchup is irrelevant.
